Benazepril is an ACE-inhibitor. ACE inhibitors block an enzyme called Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) and helps in relaxing (dilatation) of blood vessels, thereby reducing blood pressure. It increases survival of patients with Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) and Mitral valve disease (MMVD). It also reduces protein loss associated with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), decreases left ventricular wall thickness in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) in cats and helps in the treatment of hypertension.
